What happened to Fletcher Longstaff?
Fletecher Longstaff were a conveyancing firm who were regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) and handled conveyancing work including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfer of equity. Whilst we don't know how the conveyancing firm fell into debt or if the Coronavirus outbreak was the final straw, we know the company is in liquidation which means it doesn't have enough assets to pay off its liabilities.
With 690 excellent rated Trustpilot reviews it would appear clients of Fletcher Longstaff loved the service they provided since it started trading in 2015. Adam Cheal, the then Managing Director, once stated "The sole aim of the firm is to deliver the highest quality client care possible. This is achieved by giving the clients the best, whether this be in person, on the phone, by e-mail or any other method of communication". Adam terminated his directorship on the 4th May 2020 along with Thomas Edward Hansen and Astasia Helena Campbell.
In Fletcher Longstaff's 31st March 2019 year end accounts the company was only showing net assets of £1,931 which would appear to have not been enough to see the company through the challenges of Brexit and the Coronavirus.
The final remaining Director handling the winding up of the company with the appointed administrators is Claire Cheal. The Practitioner for the administrators is Patrick Alexander Lannagan, Mazars Llp One St Peters Square, Manchester, M2 3DE.
What happens to your case?
The CLC have appointed a conveyancing firm called Taylor Rose TTKW in Peterborough to take over any files or you can work with another firm of your choice. We are taking on a large number of Fletcher Longstaff cases and can help support getting your file transferred to our panel solicitors when you instruct. If Fletcher Longstaff hold client money of yours then do not panic because it is ring fenced away and cannot be used to pay off the liabilities of the company. The CLC has taken custody of all funds from Fletcher Longstaff’s client account.
If you are worried about post completion (click to find out more) work to register your property then please contact the CLC on:
