Don't miss payments or make them late

Because late and missed payments can stay on your credit file for up to 6 years, you really want to ensure you make all your payments on time.

If you are late making a payment because of circumstances beyond your control, it's worth getting in touch with your credit provider to see if you can get any black mark removed from your file.

Standard Variable Rate Mortgage

A standard variable rate mortgage is one where the interest you pay on your mortgage loan to your lender is normally a few percentage points above the Bank of England base rate. The rate can vary, not only along with movements in the base rate but also because the lender decides to vary it.

If you have a standard variable rate mortgage, you'll have to ensure that you can make your repayments even if the rate changes against your favour and thus there Is an inherent uncertainty about this. You can, however, leave this kind of mortgage at any time without penalty and opt to take on, for example, a fixed rate mortgage or a discount mortgage.

Hull, otherwise known as Kingston upon Hull, which is its official if less-used title, is a port city located in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It's the fourth largest city in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber and has a long and rich history, variously being a market town, military supply port, trading hub and industrial metropolis.

It stands upon the north bank of the Humber Estuary at the mouth of the Hull tributary a university town and perhaps most famously, the one-time librarian of the University of Hull was none other than the celebrated poet, Philip Larkin, author of The Whitsun Weddings and, of course, This Be The Verse.

This highly diverse city has a large number of landmarks and attractions, which include the four museums in Museums Quarter (which include Wilberforce House, the birthplace of William Wilberforce, who was synonymous with the abolition of slavery in North America); the Ferens Art Gallery; the Hull New Theatre; the Humber Mouth literature festival; Hull Minster; East Park and the statue of Philip Larkin in the Paragon Interchange.

Get your signed documents to your conveyancing solicitors as soon as possible.

Your solicitor cannot exchange on your property in Hull until they have received your signed contract, transfer deed, mortgage deed and anything else required. Therefore it is so vital that you complete these as soon as possible and send them by the fastest possible method.

Often your solicitor will only accept signed originals of certain documents. Therefore it is important to account for slow postal delivery options.
