Check addresses on old accounts

Old mobile phone contracts can be linked to old addresses and if they are listed as open, this can disrupt applications due to ID checks listing different addresses for you.

You can find this information out by checking your file. It's worth doing so because the impact of wrong addresses might derail an application for a mortgage, for example.

Fixed rate mortgage

With a fixed rate mortgage, the interest rate remains the same during the period of the fix, which could be 2, 3, 5 or even 10 years, after which it reverts to the lender's standard variable rate, which can move up and down.

Although you might be paying a higher rate initially with a fixed rate, it is predictable in terms of the required repayment and you are cushioned against the lender's costs of borrowing increasing (such as because, for example, the Bank of England has raised its base interest rate). You are locked in, however, and you cannot leave early without having to pay a large repayment charge. Once the fixed period has finished, you are free to organise a further fixed term (and fixed interest rate) with your lender or to change lenders and take up another mortgage entirely, which might, for example, be another fixed term mortgage.

Broxbourne is in Broxbourne Borough in Hertfordshire and is a town located 17 miles north north-east of Central London. The River Lea is just to its east forms the boundary between Hertfordshie and Essex. The parish church of St Augustine is a prominent local landmark; it was rebuilt in the 15th century but a 12th century Purbeck marble font still survives.

You can see wild animals in the Paradise Wildlife Park in White Stubbs Lane or those who prefer more nautical pursuits might wish to sample the delights of the Lee Valley Boat Centre in Old Nazeing Road. You can choose paddle boats, pedalos or even an electric boat if you're feeling too relaxed!

Broxbourne Mortgage Broker Insider Tips

Selling? Deal with any issues which are likely to appear on a survey before you market your property

A cautious buyer is more likely to book a RICS home buyers survey which is likely to show up any potential or actual defects your property may have.

If there are any, these may give a prospective buyer grounds either to bargain with you for a reduction in selling price or even to pull out of buying. At the very least you may end up wasting time as a result.

You should therefore call in a professional to remedy any structural issues you may have such as damp – the cause might often be damaged roofs or window frames or leaking pipes.
