Discount Mortgage

Discount mortgages normally involve the lender imposing an interest rate charge on the loan which is at a discount to the lender's standard variable rate (SVR). The discount is normally fixed for a period (typically 2 or 3 years).

You benefit as a mortgagor by the discount rate being cheaper than the SVR and if the SVR in turn is cut, then you pay even less each month.
